English Pagoda top Tall Case
Hull, circa 1815
Light colored mahogany cased English tall case clock from Hull, on the middle eastern shore of England. Date's to about 1815, this pagoda topped clock rests on flared French feet. The plinth has a cross-box inlay and finely grained flame mahogany veneer. The waist door also shows fine flame mahogany veneer, and is flanked by multiple line inlay on it's chamfered edge. The hood has two full reeded columns to the side, with heavy cast Corinthian column caps. The pagoda top has a fan inlay to it's center, and three Eagle and ball finials sitting atop line inlaid finial blocks. The white dial has it's original floral decoration to each spandrel, and in it's arch. A calendar aperature is located just below the brass hands, a seconds bit above. 8 day brass works, bell strike movement, with typical fine English workmanship.
